HPL. It’s Health, Performance, and life; it’s living a High-Performance Lifestyle.

It is not for everybody, but anybody can take it from theory to practice to mastery.

If you asked 100 people if they would like to live a life of higher personal or professional performance, 100 would likely say YES.

The differentiator comes down to how you get there, whether you have a mindset for results or one that’s focused on the ACTIONS that result in what you want to achieve.

Many consider Tom Brady intense, maybe even crazy, for his unusual high-performance lifestyle behaviors and focus. Lance Armstrong was viewed as an American Outlaw for working to push beyond his physical limits. Derek Jeter was seen as the sports definition of PERFECT.

All are high performers, and all live their version of the HPL. For them, it’s a lifestyle mindset and approach to achieving their goals that resulted in GOAT status. You can be the greatest of all time in your own life if you learn what it takes to perform well at a higher level in your life. It can be that way for you in time.

High-Performance Lifestyle HPL

A high-performance life is the intentional application of focus, energy, physicality, mindset, emotional intelligence, creativity, and personal effectiveness in a way that optimizes performance and produces uncommon results. Tony U. Francisco

I work with healthy, high-achieving entrepreneurs with high-performance lifestyles who view themselves as athletes, even though the last time they suited up may have been for a high school street game or Wednesday night basketball at the neighborhood gym.

Nonetheless, once an athlete, always an athlete, and if you don’t have an athletic background, keep in mind if you have a body, you are an athlete; but prepare once for a 5k walk or run, and you’ll quickly get it.

Being an athlete is not just about physicality but your mentality. The never-give-up mentality keeps evolving till the end with an intent to succeed, and you never quit.

It is a mentality the average performer does not have so focused on outcomes alone, devoid of any understanding of human performance and the lifestyle it translates to, that they fizzle out.

Can it be taught? Learned?

The only way HPL can be taught or learned is through immersing yourself. You must immerse yourself in the teachings, the presence, and the lifestyle that yields the energy, health, and higher performance you want.

But unlike most athletes, who train hard for a season and maintain for the rest of the year, you need life training, not sports training, and you need to learn how to sustain your energy, health, and performance through your lifestyle 365.

Where are you at in your journey to change, improve and optimize your lifestyle and ultimately create an HPL you can call your own?

Have you lost your edge? Has your ax become dull? Are you tired?

Remember, “When you lose your natural drive and start accepting your behaviors (even though they are not winning behaviors), you have started to process performance decline.”

You cannot expect excellence if you settle for daily choices of mediocrity. Skipping your workouts, eating nutrient-poor diets, running, and working until your body shuts down. Living a life that is not balanced is unsustainable. You will lose that game.

Living an HPL is about sharpening your ax daily, finding your drive, and training that 6th sense for what’s next; as an action, you can take to function and perform better so you can also take the precise steps that achieve your goals.

Prepare for the challenges that await you ahead. The challenges you know nothing about yet; will create mental and physical fortitude that will drive you through your darkest days- and provide a strong enough light to move others. Don’t underestimate your light, your energy.

Managing Your Energy Like a Pro is the first core essential of human performance and the key to an HPL because your energy is what’s driving you.

That is what we should have learned from the beginning, what we should be learning from sports, athletes, and other healthy high achievers around us. It’s what we should be learning in our post-graduate schooling: how to be a winner and develop a winning mindset and lifestyle.

HPL is not for everybody. It is for those who seek more out of themselves without falling victim to society’s demands and false realities.

I share this with you today with a tip of the cap to those who are learning to live without excuses, say what they mean, and have higher levels of discipline while still enjoying their quality of life.

That can be you in an HPL. You’ll find yourself on the wrong side of the bell curve if it’s not.
