“WHAT YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH BECOMES YOUR REALITY.”-MDR

This week I continue this theme by focusing on the home gym and workout room during this weight loss challenge.

Our environments create a relationship in our consciousness of positive or negative influences. Our spaces and how we work with them can deeply affect our behaviors.

This week, the focus is the workout room. No matter how big or small this space is, it should always be super-organized and well lit!

Imagine if you were working out in a space that was cluttered and dark! Not exactly conducive to energy and high output, I would say.

Vastu teachings advise that home gyms are best situated in the Southeast of our homes due to the natural positioning of the fire element here. The fire element creates transformational qualities in our consciousness. A workout space in this direction will stimulate our energy levels in a natural holistic way.

Some overall general Vastu guidelines for a successful workout space include the following:

Heavier equipment is best positioned in the Southwest of the gym workout area. This can include weight sets or larger more bulky equipment.

A water cooler in the Northeast is best as this direction is associated with the water elemental quality of fluidity.

Mirrors are best positioned to the North, Northeast and East, as these directions are most beneficial to our well-being, bringing in the North magnetic energy and the East solar energy. Mirrors create a sense of expansiveness and positive growth in our minds.

Using bright colors on the walls or through pictures, will inspire us to achieve our goals.

Placing inspirational images and creating wall murals that display our vision, and how we want to ultimately see ourselves is a great addition to these spaces.  Locate images of what you want your ideal body to look like and hang them up!

Music is such a key feature in a workout environment.  If you are doing cardio or weight- lifting, use music that is invigorating and motivational.  Remember, our sense of hearing is a great influencer in our environments, especially in home gyms to get us pumped up!

A mini-refrigerator in the Southeast with water, lemons and fresh juices is a healthy addition to any home gym environment.

Make sure the ceilings aren’t too low or beams are not situated over your head. This will hinder your productivity and make you feel confined.

So let’s get physical, start the jam and pump it up!

Whatever gets you going and having fun!
